Marjolein in het Klein
Building a life that feels like me
Marjolein Jonker is a pioneer of the Tiny House movement in the Netherlands and one of the first people to turn the dream of tiny living into reality. In May 2016, she became the first legal Tiny House resident in the Netherlands, moving into an off-grid Tiny House on wheels on municipal land in Alkmaar. Today, she lives in her Tiny House on her own plot in the nature-inclusive and circular neighborhood of Olstergaard.
As founder of the Tiny House Netherlands foundation and the TinyFindy platform, Marjolein has inspired thousands of people through her writing, talks, and personal journey. But her story is about much more than living in a small house.
Her journey is about daring to choose a different path. About letting go of society’s standard script and listening to the quiet voice inside that asks: What truly matters to me?
“I didn’t build a Tiny House. I built a life that felt more like me.”
Through honesty, humor, and real-life experiences, Marjolein shares how choosing a simpler life became a journey toward more freedom, more connection, and more authenticity.
In this inspiring talk, she invites you to explore what can happen when you stop living by expectations and start following your heart. Because sometimes, choosing less can lead to so much more.
